Here is an article in today's Washington Post entailing the Class 1A North football playoff scenario. Personally, I hope McDonough gets in. It's time everyone leans on the MPSSAA until it gives.

Heavyweights? - like say, both teams are really into their chow?

Let's face it, any adjustment that would possibly advance two Cumberland teams deep into the playoffs isn't happening. If Alco and Fort Hill ever met in the championship it would be beyond cringe-worthy for the urban suits. They would have to have a special resuscitation unit in the media booth - as there would be endless palpitations from hand-wringing and hair-shirt wearing.

Absolutely pathetic. Hopefully more and more of this happens so changes will happen. All it takes is for someone of influence that has ties to a particular school that misses because of this crap to see some change.

I know Maryland is considered a nanny state... but has any of the most influential high school coaches and athletic directors gone to the state and said enough is enough? Your personal agendas are embarrassing our state and not to mention you are really doing a disservice to the kids particularly when they enter the real world and we need to be fair is no longer an option.

Really sad when.500 or slightly better teams in other regions miss out! 1A North's best was moved from the West too!

Agonizingly, 'fairness' is a national agenda with a grip on everything. It is 'fair' for a deserving 1 - 8 school to make the playoffs. WMD schools like Alco and FH have been 'mansplaining' their 'privilege' through redneck football far to long. Time to make things right, be fair. After all, each of us individually is responsible for the collective self image of everybody else - or so that's what I am reading now-a-days.
