Cathedral Prep comes to Cumberland Thursday night with a 3-2 record dropping the last 2 games to very good teams. Fort Hill comes into the game at 3-0. What’s going happen Thursday evening?

Thankfully FH picked up Prep. Because their last 5 games to close out the regular season are going to be extremely Ugly with a capital U.

Hedgesville
Southern
Silver Oak
Green Street
Alco

$6 entrance fee to see an hour game with a running clock the entire 2nd half. UGLY!

Better than watching an 0-3 Allegany that cant beat Mountain Ridge, case closed Brother

Fort Hill just doesn't seem to be all that stout defensively, and they dont seen to have a set unit in there. Especially on that D-Line. Cathedral will probably score quick, much like MCC in 17', it'll just depend on FH's ability to maintain control of the pace and tempo on the offensive side of the ball. I think the game will be close for most of the night, but I'm gonna go with Cathedral 42-31

Glad you finally see things my way.. I remember a time you would be in full attack mode if someone mentioned or even had a notion of FH scheduling someone other than teams like their last 5 opponents. Funny you should mention the $6 entrance fee. When I brought up the very fact of people not wanting to spend their hard earned money on as you put it "ugly" games. Your retort was something to the effect of "FH doesn't schedule to entertain". Which always was a head scratcher being thats what sporting events are "entertainment" and the whole business model thingy associated with that "entertainment".. Anywhoo there's no shame in correcting one's stance. As they say, Better late than never huh?

Btw as much as it pains me I think Prep takes this 42-28. Defensively Fh just doesn't have it. Offensively they're too one deminsional which most of the time doesn't work against athletic well coached teams. I hope I'm wrong though..

First of all I never referred to fans who dont want to pay to see FH beat the tar out of a Silver Oak type team. My references were toward Morgantown and playoff type games where few show up there as well. In addition to fools who cry because they might not get the state title game on tv because they don't want to drive there. If you are in sucH dire need to see FH play then go to the game instead of boo hooing it's not on tv.

I have always agreed that I would have liked to see FH play at least one or two better opponents like Cathedral in the recent past. Just could not load up on them given the old playoff deal. If FH would not have picked up Cathedral the home schedule was set to be the worst in school history. No denying that and I would have bitched about it.

The best game I ever watched was the one at Sherando where Sherando shut down the run in the first half and Fort Hill came out throwing in the second half and won. I’m hoping Fort Hill has a passing game this year because I think they are going to need it. I will be impressed if Fort Hill stays within 10 points.

I’m hoping Fort Hill is the most talented and deepest high school football team in the country like Lagmeister would want us to believe. My head is telling me that Fort Hill is a great small school football program that will have a hard time competing with talented big school football programs.

Should FH win this game? If anyone believes in rankings and recent state level competition for both teams the answer is FH should lose this game.

With that being said, football is a finite sport - meaning there is only so much playing time on a clock. Therefore, I don’t see FH losing to CP any worse than it did to DeMatha several years ago.

FH has a history of doing well against the rush, especially as a runner goes outside. FH’s defense, as young as it is, will need to seal the outside with the same discipline FH has exhibited in the past. As always, a concern has to be FH’s defensive backs.

Offensively, FH needs to control the clock, and I believe can do so especially if CP is simply depending on athletes to outplay FH’s offensive line with little or no preparation to defend the wing-t. There is a difference between being exposed to the wing-t over the years and defending against it when a team plays FH.

Unless there are a lot of FH turnovers DK will keep the field position honest for CP, and CP will have to consistently drive some distance to score.

I expect FH to go down early as much as two scores until they adjust to the speed and play of CP, as expected.

In the end, CP 36 - FH 24 in a game that CP should win but is up for grabs.

CalPreps now has FH winning 31-30 on a neutral field. Interesting discussion material.

According to Max Preps this is the #20 team from PA vs. the #23 team from MD.

So looking forward to this game.

Oh, and if you see the refs wearing brand new red FH Oakleys, new uniforms and Kenny Johnson driving a red BMW with WMD Lemonade license plates...pay no never mind. ;)

Too funny. Prepare for the post-game onslaught of questionable impartiality claims, regardless of the outcome.

Unless FH has been hiding a sustainable passing game, I think they lose this one by nearly 40 points, something like 49-10. This is going to be Martinsburg-esque dominandce. FH needs to throw early and not wait until it's expected to have any chance. At least they'll make the playoffs, right?

I have always used this adage to describe two teams and who the favorite should be...Cathedral Prep has to ability to beat FH by a large margin. FH cannot beat Cathedral Prep by a large margin. I believe FH can beat Prep on the right night, that means no turnovers, costly penalties, etc. and they obviously need to be able to run the ball. If FH cannot run the ball, it doesn't matter who they play.

Some of you still live by some fantasy that FH will come out throwing to beat a team. The only time I have seen it in the last quarter century was at Sherando when FH was down 14 at the half. C'mon man. 85 years of ground and pound.

This is the reason, though, they can't defeat very talented teams. Saying they're competitive in these games is like giving a participation trophy. Don't get me wrong, FH is very well coached. They have some isolated talent some years. They have overall team talent most years. If passing could be worked in there, that ground and pound would be much more successful. That's all I'm sayin'...

We will know if we have a game in FH's first offensive possession.

True.... I’m gonna be in the minority here, but I don’t think think their highlights look a whole lot better than Morgantown’s

I had to take my trip a week earlier or I would not have missed this game. I think FH has a shot, for sure.

Massey has CP 42 - FH 24.

Interesting disparity. FH must burn every second of the play clock and move have no negative plays; can’t get behind the chains. Everyone needs to forget about last year’s defense. That was spoiling us. That is last year. This year’s defense is the size of the average JV team of year’s past. FH will give up some big plays but the offense must control the game.

That much speed on a defense doesn't come around every season. And your absolutely right they are going to have to hold the ball and eat up allot of clock to have a shot at winning this one
