Alco/FH Schedule Issue

Alco's schedule has been dogshit for 30 years. OMG that's true. LOL

Since the head to head with FH is so lopsided Alco people try to justify their claim to greatness through playing other teams and comparing. It all makes sense now.

Everyone hailed the new coach last year because Alco went 10-2. But Preaskorn would have gone 10-2 with that dogshit schedule. So easy a caveman could do it.

So the Top 25 means nothing, but maxpreps does?
Thats exactly my point..read what I wrote. People want to say the poll means nothing then use it to justify FH being weak or whatever.

Same thing with maxpreps. if youre going to use one or the other might as well use both. If one uses maxpreps to build them up, it's a joke. If you use it to tear them down, we'll then that's okay. Or the poll. or whatever.

Stats and numbers can be used to support or debunk whatever argument you want.

Please read this BrianH1974. "FH and Southern talked back in early November. We could not get a date set up for 2017 at the time. But Southern did ask about a game, and FH asked for more than just a 2 year contract. It sounded like Southern was willing to go with that. This was all during the heat of the FH playoff run. Southern had only one week open at the time. I believe it was Week 8 where FH also had Sherando. And FH and Sherando were also in talks about another game. Southern could not wait on an answer as they had other options. That is the logical move with scheduling that any coach or AD would make. You can only keep another team on hold for so long".

"Southern AD Matt Redinger and I have become very good friends the last 5 years or so. I bounce many things off of him and hopefully vice-versa that are related and unrelated to football. Despite him being a Duke and Notre Dame fan I have been able to look past all that. LOL. Using hindsight I wish we (mostly myself) would have just pushed all the other options off the table and just got this 2017 deal done. Maybe something will work out for 2018"

Don not include Southern in your discussion that "none of these teams will play FH".

I heard Southern is open Week 6 next year after Notre Dame contract over. So is FH. In the movie computer voice talking to Mathew Broderick, WANT TO PLAY A GAME?

Don't listen to Camper21502. He is another disgruntled Alco fan tired of getting beat. This year will make 12 in a row.

FH already plays the toughest schedule around theae parts. That sums up how dumb and desperate he is.
Lol your right FH has beaten Alco ,50 straight so it's pretty sad when the Campers play a tougher schedule than the big bad red...

What is this "Maryland Top 25" obsession? We say the poll means something then it doesnt mean something...it means nothing when FH is ranked ahead of certain teams, but it means something to prove FH is a good team if they play someone off of it...etc. Pick a lane.

If the argument is to play "one Maryland top 25 team," who determines which team is worthy of that? And if rankings and lists DO matter (which apparently they do at 10:10 a.m. today), then why would we not look at national rankings, and see that Melbourne Central is ranked higher nationally than most (not some but MOST) of the teams on that Maryland top 25 list?

This has to be the longest running, unorthodox and ever changing argument we've had on these boards.
When your ranked that high every yr. then you should play another team ranked that high once in awhile.. Don't be scared of playing a game past the 1st qtr..

I have to say it's pretty hard to tell if LinemanWinGames and BrianH are FH fans or not lol. Lot of good spirits flying around on the thread here.

Putting pride and alma maters aside, you can easily look at the past 30 years for both schools and say their schedules are very comparable. Neither one is clearly weaker or stronger than the other. I may not be as old or knowledgeable as most guys on the board here, but haven't both schools had fairly competitive schedules in the past? I'm sure there's a year or two that can be argued, but on the average I haven't seen a real difference. And that all goes back to my original point of both teams being solid programs (FH certainly with a leg up recently) but in a small classification where a lot of other state schools dodge playing them.

Playoff schedules were certainly different when FH was 2A and Alco was 1A, so that's a factor for sure. There for a while Alco had to play like Southern or Smithsburg in the first round and FH would have to play someone like Douglass PG who had 2-3 Division I guys on their squad and loaded with talent.

Also, from an economic and logical standpoint.. I doubt "absorbing" Alco into FH would happen if the local economy continues to decline and the two schools consolidate. Wild guess here, but spending $40+ million dollars on a new high school and then changing the name of it years down the road to the other one across town for football tradition's sake probably won't happen. Both schools have great traditions, so that's a pissing match that will go nowhere.
