Several people have asked me if I know much about Allegany's next opponent. I have never seen them play, although the FH coaches I know that scouted their scrimmage with Morgantown said they gave the Mohigans all they could handle.

Gallatin is from Uniontown, PA. This is the first year they are playing an independent schedule after making the decision to pull out of the WPIAL citing a lack of competitiveness and safety. Since 2010 Gallatin has a combined 7-77 record. Through eight games last year they were outscored 414-32.

Albert Gallatin’s last winning season was 1983. Since 1983, Albert Gallatin has had 11 winless seasons. But there was a time from the 1960s to the early 1980s when Albert Gallatin had a strong program. The Colonials won WPIAL titles in 1961 and 1974.

You can read that story here from the Post Gazzette:

But Gallatin is currently 3-0 this year with wins over Pittsburgh City League teams and James Buchanan, who are a combined 2-12. But it has to be a step in the right direction.

Allegany, despite sitting at 0-3, easily represents the best team Gallatin has faced so far so it is definitely crucial in their eyes. And for Alco it obviously is a big game to get off the skids. Interesting match up.

According to my limited research, Gallatin is a large school in the Uniontown area. I talked to their AD who told me they are really looking forward to Cumberland and to see Greenway Stadium. I gave him directions and we talked about school sizes etc. He told me that Gallatin is a large faith based school with approx. 3,000 students. They are classed as a PA 4A/3A classification. I believe PA high school football goes up to 6A competition...but don't quote me on that one.
I called him to get a roster for the Alco game which he supplied. It consists of about 40 kids with good size. However, the roster includes 9th and 10th grade boys, so we'll see Friday night for sure.
I believe that Allegany will visit them next year...not totally sure about that one. Just in case you are wondering, they are the Colonials.
Just like Todd said, they haven't been very successful for quite some time but off to a good start so far. I also noticed that Hampshire has them on their schedule for 11 October.
It will be interesting to say the least. :)

Saw them play last year,
The QB last year was my Son In Laws Brother
He could throw it but was running for his life all night
They were well coached just lacked talent
Loved to throw it all over the place

Gallatin has 753 students grades 9-11. They will be classified as a MPSSAA 2A school.
