1A West Playoff set

The playoffs are official. Congrats to Northern for making it in.

THE 1A WEST PLAYOFFS FOR NEXT WEEK
Northern Garrett at Fort Hill
Allegany vs. North Carroll (Allegany the home team if they win Homecoming, North Carroll the home team if Allegany loses Homecoming)

Of note...With Northern beating Southern tonight 48-0 and with North Carroll beating Manchester Valley 20-7, there was a tie for the fourth playoff spot between Northern and Manchester Valley with 51 points each. The first tiebreaker is head to head but they didn't play each other. The second tiebreaker is who has the most bonus win points. That was in Northern's favor 20-16.

MV's starting QB and #1 WR were both out this week. Their backup QB got taken off in an ambulance after a hit with around 4:30 left in the 4th. They had to put their next best WR in as the emergency QB. It's probably a good thing they're not in the playoffs. It would have been real ugly for them with those 3 guys out. It would have been real ugly vs. Fort Hill with those 3 guys healthy but I'm not sure they would have gotten a 1st down vs. Fort Hill with their current injury situation.

When you start counting bonus win points to determine this it gets crazy sometimes. Smithsburg lost to Boonsboro tonight 20-19. I have no idea how this game played out but if Smithsburg had won, Manchester Valley would be in and Northern would be out.

It's a major win for them to just make the playoffs. FH will smoke them, but Northern will regard this season as one for the ages. Not a shot on them, but a school that size doesn't have much of a chance!!
