1A Quarterfinals...

What are everyone's thoughts on this weekends quarterfinals. Fort Hill vs Joppa and Ridge vs Forest Park. Thoughts on the games and who wins.

Everything is pointing to running clocks for both teams. However, Joppatowne has a history of playing their best ball during the playoffs. Hopefully we see a good game this weekend.

Joppatowne plays in a league full of schools that are bigger and deeper than them. You can never really judge them by their record. I can remember on at least two occasions where they were at or below .500 going into the playoffs but made a deep run. Including the year they beat Beall to win their 2nd state championship. They were 4-5 when the playoffs began.

With all that being said… I agree. I think both this weeks game have the potential to be worse than last weeks games. Final score wise that is.

Also, there has been come confusion for those that did not know...but the winner of FH/Joppatowne gets the winner of Edmondson/Colonel Richardson. So if FH wins they do not get the lowest seed available. Likewise the winner of Mtn Ridge/Forest Park gets the winner of Brunswick/Perryville.

You are correct. They had a new high school open in 2007 to help with overcrowding. I was mistaken.

The one thing they have that sometimes causes FH problems is athletes and speed. You kick off one of those short low kicks that is taken at the 15 and I can see them running it back. Does anybody know what offense they run?

From the story in the Sun, HDG moved up and down the field on them, just couldn't finish. One of the Mariners td's was on a 90+ yd fumble return.

I believe in the older system they reseeded once they reached the semifinals. Now it is when they reach the quarterfinals.

Yeah, once they reseed in the quarters, its straight bracket play from there. Wouldn't mind seeing the old NHL style playoff structure where they reseed after every round but this is still better than what we had before!
