Recruiting Report - 2/3/2014[/URL]

Maryland Varsity is bringing readers an in-depth recruiting look with the
Varsity Insider. Find out what colleges are after Jonathan Lee, Will
McClain, Nick Nelson, Robert Jackson Jr, and LaVell McCullers now!

......................................................................................................

Good Counsel running back Jonathan Lee

Summer camps
“I am thinking about Notre Dame, Penn State, NC State,
Georgia Tech, the Nike Combine, and the Rivals camp.”

Recruiting
“I’ve
been getting a lot of stuff from NC State, Penn State, and Princeton.”

Visits
“No, not yet.”

Places to visit
“I definitely want to visit
Notre Dame, Penn State, and NC Sate. Notre Dame is one of my favorite schools.”

A favorite college growing up
“It would be Penn State and Notre Dame. I
have liked them since I was younger.”

......................................................................................................

Aberdeen quarterback LaVell McCullers

A college decision
“I committed to Marist. I liked the school. It has good
academics and a good football program.”

Others schools considered
“I
was looking at Delaware State, Maryland, NC State, Towson, and New Hampshire.”

Why Marist over the other schools?
“I liked the coaches. They were all
really friendly and they know what they are doing. I liked the players that I
met on my visit.”

What his role will be
“They said I would definitely
be in consideration as a starter. Their quarterback left this year and they have
no quarterbacks with game experience returning.”

What he plans to get
ready for college
“I’ll be working out a lot this summer. I got a speed
training coach and then I’ll be on the field throwing with receivers.”

The Marist coaches
“They are great coaches. They know what they are talking
about. They know how to reach a lot of players. The players love their coaches.”

......................................................................................................

Suitland athlete Nick Nelson

Where he plans to sign
“Right now it is Hawaii.”

What would change
his decision
“I’m not really sure. I don’t know. I doubt anything will change
it.”

What other schools are in the mix?
“The school that is looking at
me and showing me interest is Rutgers. They are interested and called me last
week. They might offer before signing day.”

What is the situation at
Rutgers?
“I don’t know the situation but I doubt if I decommit.”

Have
you been to Rutgres before?
“I’ve been there before for a camp.”

What
happens if they offer?
“If they were to offer, I don’t know. I don’t have
enough time to take a visit. I’ll probably stick with Hawaii.”

Why did
you pick Hawaii
“It is just the players, the atmosphere, and the coaches.”

What was the hardest part of recruiting?
“The hardest thing was just
making a decision and sticking with it.”

......................................................................................................

Bishop McNamara athlete Robert Jackson Jr

Recruiting
“Last week, the coach from Virginia Tech came and talked to me.
The coach from the University of Delaware came out and talked to me. Boston
College invited me to their junior day coming up. The coach from Old Dominion
emailed me and said that I should come up to their camp this summer.”

The
school recruiting the hardest?
“Probably Old Dominion.”

Schools that
are close to offering?
“I feel that an offer will come after going to their
camp.”

Summer camps
“I’m looking to get to the camps of the schools
that are recruiting me.”

......................................................................................................

Middletown lineman Will McClain

How did you get your first offer?
“West Virginia offered me by calling up
my coach. Coach Lynott called me down to his office and he told me that at 12 o
clock today West Virginia had offered me a scholarship. I said that was great
and didn’t really know how to respond.”

What were your thoughts on the
first offer?
“I was really happy and I was glad that I got an offer. I felt a
big old weight lifted off of my shoulders.”

How do you feel about West
Virginia?
“I like West Virginia. I’ve been following them for a little bit
and have been learning about what they are doing up there.”

What visits
are you going to take?
“I went up there for camp during the summer for one
day. That was pretty much it.”

Were you surprised about the offer?
“I
was really surprised. I didn’t hear anything from them expect that here is an
offer.”

Have you heard from them since they offered?
“No, they haven't
contacted me or anything yet.”

What visits are you planning to make?

“I’m going to try and go to a West Virginia junior day. Right after, Coach let
me know about to their junior day in February.”

Are any other schools
close to offering?
“No, not really. I don’t really know about that yet.”
