You mean Keyser will not play FH. You mean.... Keyser got ripped to shreds in this forum after dropping FH.
I don’t either, it felt like they were the most competitive program next to FH in the area.
To bad they had to drop FH. Might of been a down to the wire game this year. This probably is one of Keyser's best teams in the past 5 years. I can see them going deep in playoffs but might hit a brick wall if the play Bluefield (Fielding 4 D1 prospects) or Fairmont Senior.
They won 2 of the last 6 meetings between the schools. No real reason to drop considering both are local schools
According to coach biser it don’t benefit them playing a Maryland 1a school. Never understood this. Is the point system that different in WV compared to Maryland. Maybe Todd could shed some light or Ed could
Pretty sure FH is a 2A in WV. Not 100% sure how the point system varies, just sounds like a cop out to me. They got toasted 100-0 over a two year stretch then take FH off the schedule...
What happened was FH beat them around 50-0 then right after that Keyser said we aren’t playing them anymore
Was the last year they played them the same year they ended up the 9 seed and had to travel like 10 hours or something to mingo central?
In WV you have to play a certain amount of schools of the same class or higher in order to qualify for the playoffs. If you are a AA school in WV and go 10-0 but 6 of those wins are against A schools you wouldnt qualify for the playoffs. I believe there is something tied to bonus points for schools smaller than you as well.
So to some it all up, make it sound like it dont benefit them to play a 1a school from Maryland, but in turn is a 2A school for points in WV, but in realilty you get your a—s handed to you year in and year out so you dont wanna play anymore. Sorta thought that, but just wanted some clarification so the Keyser people could understand.
Yes, Keyser got beat by FH 100-0 the last two times they played and had like 56 yards of total offense. They still kept playing Alco and Mtn Ridge. End of story.
But as has been stated every school including FH chooses who they play or don't play. But Keyser is an area school who plays at the youth levels so I find that to be on another level.

So they choose to play the cup cakes of the area that they know they will beat year in and year out

Its very simple once you know what school is what class
If you are 1A, 2A, 3A or 4A in Maryland it doesn't matter in WV, cause WV takes your enrollment 8-11 and puts you in a class as if you were in WV
Reclass every 4 years so currently we are using enrollment numbers for Oct of 2015
beating a AAA 12 points Mt Ridge would be AAA in WV
Hampshire, Hedgesville, Martinsburg, Spring Mills, Morgantown are AAA
beating a AA 9 points South Garett, North Garret, Fort Hill and Allegany would be AA in WV
Petersburg, Keyser and Frankfort are AA
beating a A 6 points Hancock would be A in WV
East Hardy, Moorefield Tucker County are A
Then if that AAA you beat, beats a AAA 1 bonus points
Then is that AA you beat, beats a AA or AAA 1 bonus point
Then if that A you beat, beats anyone 1 bonus point

Thanks Ed, I know this falls on deaf ears, But maybe the Einstein’s of the MPSSAA and Ill leave out that name of a certain Einstein that coached in our area that is now a part of the biased MPSSAA and complained about the format for years should open there eyes. The WV format is proof in the pudding!!! You get a true champion. Having this format, I can probably count 2-3 years where FH/Allegany might have been the State Championship Game. Not the Bull Crap Region Championship Game
Not keyser related but will we ever see one of them aa brick walls run into a big red brick wall? I would love to see a Fairmont sr or a bluefield in the next few years on fort hills schedule...
From what I remember, it wasn't so much a points thing alone. Yeah FH is worth AA points just like Frankfort or Bridgeport...but I think Keyser's argument was "if we're going to play FH and lose 4 out of 6 games, why not schedule Bridgeport or RCB or another good WV AA instead? And if we get beat by a fellow WV AA team, so be it" - think of it this way, if FH had the opportunity to schedule a good MD 1A or 2A school instead of Keyser, would that be such a bad deal? Especially if they had only moderate success against Keyser?
Having said that, it was still nice to play Keyser, as they were consistently one of the better teams on FH's schedule, local or not.
