I hope we were trying to not give away our game plan!

Someone please get the message to Apple to please not wait to pass till it is obvious that we are going to pass. We waited till OBVIOUS passing situations to put the ball in the air, and it wasn't open because surratts dropped back. We CAN pass on 2nd and 5, and most likely score. We seen in the first half how open the pass was when the D was up tight on us, but we stayed away from it in the second half... I HOPE that's a strategy for "not giving to much away for the title game". But please don't just wait till 3rd and 15 to try to pass. It's open the most WHEN ITS NOT EXPECTED! Have faith in your players!

Take what you want... Not just what you think that they'll give you!

Probably the most conservative play calling all year. Don't do it next week or u will get beat. Give 24 the ball 10 more times a game. Spread them out a liitle and let Ty find a seam. My god don't play old style FH ball or you will lose another state title at the bank.

Hey Dan, stick to sideline stuff. Defense played awesome, but if thats all the O has then I hope we r saving the big show for the big dance. Just saying

Anyone watching the replay of the game? I don't think Ty Johnson stepped out of bounds at the 5. Neither did either announcer. One referee had signaled touchdown.

It has nothing to do with having a blow out or lack there of

That was extremely conservative play calling, and to be honest I feel extremely lucky to come away with a victory. Any one of those fumbles we recovered goes the other way who knows what happens. Surratts came to play, and we nearly gave it away. Either we were happy with the lead we had, and tried to run out the clock, or our coaching staff froze up, and forgot what got us here.

I agree...my gosh FH won a state semi-final game by 16 points. Be happy!

FH threw the ball two times, and one throw went for a touchdown. Bottom line: The coaching staff knows what it's doing.

IT was obvious FH played not to lose instead of win! When u dominate a team all half running the Wing T, then u dont run it at all that makes no sense! Lucky the D made the plays when they had to! No reason to put 24 in the slot and let him stand there and not touch the ball! Barnes hardly got carries in the 2nd half to

Keep in mind, CC21, it was a state semi-final game. In 1A, you need to make sure your players are in good health to play at the big show next week. FH could have thrown all night long, but chose not to do so. FH could have mixed it up all night long, but chose not to do so. The coaches know what they're doing. Don't panic because FH didn't win by 40+.

I dont care that they didn't throw, this team doesn't need to, but to go away from your strength and get that conservative is a no no IMO! Idc who likes it, ill say it! That game was ala esque of the perryville Game where the coaches started to choke and get to conservative IMO! Never make a game closer then it needs to be! Why borderline float with danger in a game of this magnitude. They did just fine running in the first half, then they became very predictable and ran with 9 defenders in the box knowing where the ball was going

I agree. The kids on the field were calm and had their stuff together. At no point was their ship sinking. But some of you guys act like it was the end of the world. Lol I'm glad our kids are sure of themselves.

Like i said in my post the defense made plays when they had to. They didnt sink as u said even tho the coaches did

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I respect what you have to say. I may not completely agree with you but it is your opinion.

I hope you're right, because they knew what they was doing last year all the way to the title game... However the aggression had never let up.

I agree with a earlier post... In the second we played to not lose, instead of to win. Surratts played well, and nearly took it away from us. Thank god for the players staying with the play and being in position to recover those fumbles. THEY ARE TONIGHTS UNSUNG HEROS.

Someone buys those kids a steak!

You gotta admit...the Lattimer-esque, "pound-it-up-the-middle-with-the-fullback" mentality reared its ugly head in the second half - and it was not working. I gotta side with the too conservative, too close for comfort. FH has a nasty habit of letting off the throttle as soon as they are up by 14 points. At the end, Todd was right about one thing...the kids held on to win that game in the second half. It sure wasn't the coaching.

I'm not criticizing the team, but the play calling was vintage "Barry Ball" let's run Raen 3 straight times and punt. Yes we were playing not to lose, but at this point in the season you play to win and leave NOTHING out. Dougie knows who we are and CSD has film, we will not surprise anyone. We just have to play tougher and better than everyone else.

Does anyone wonder if Ty is at 100%? Yeah he scored 2 TDs, but somethkng just seems different. Still the best player on the field though.

I think Ty is fine, and I'm glad to see Smith step up. I love seeing the return of the full back. I was so worried in the beginning of the season that we were relying on Ty too much, and were to 1 dimensional . The past couple weeks we really expanded the passing game, started using the FB, and became the complete package.

Again I hope the play calling in the second was a strategy to run out the clock, the kids were all in the know, and that this wasn't the coaching staff freezing up

Second half was always a 2 score game. Fort Hill ran the clock and won the game. Not sure there is a problem here...

It's called time or clock mamagement. Running the fullback kills clock. Not perfectly, but it does eat up game clock.

It was freezing last night by far the coldest football game of the yr. The first half looked like it was gonna be a blowout. The 2nd half FH came out flat and surattsville made a game out of it. FH cant afford to play like they did in 2nd half at the State Championship game or it will be a very long ride home. I say give ty the ball 20 times and FH will be coming home with a State Championship...

FH has nothing to hold back against Douglass. Last gamr of the yr. No scouts. It will be as open as it needs to be. FHs biggest test will be the Ducks bigplay ability. All but one of Dougs TDs last night were on big plays..88 yd run, 64 yd pass, 56 yd run...from what Ive reviewed its a wide open offense. No other team in 1A has a secondary that can recover as quickly as FH though. So I dont foresee FH getting burnt that often.

On the other hand...CSD ran a wide open offense that played into Dougs defense. They wont shut out FH though. They will get caught on the trap. FH might throw the ball twice. If they have to throw more than five times...it means the run is being stopped and that spells trouble.

Wing T. Same as last year except Raen instead of Darr. I think Douglass scores some points this year, but FH scores more.

Im ready for the Twitter war to begin. #dougnation for some entertainment.

I think FH could have scored at will against da Rats. The conservative play was because the game was in hand and FH wanted to run the clock as much as possible. You are not running the clock if you are scoring with a couple hand-offs to Johnson.

It may help a bruised ego that the Rat coach thinks they stopped FH in the second half. Who cares. FH could have scored as many points as they wanted. That's my opinion.

Talked to one of the coachs today, he said Ty got a little bell ringing, I didn't see it, I thought he was pointing to his helmet both times I saw him but the first time he put his hands on his knees trying to clear his head. Smith jammed his shoulder but was ok after a couple minutes. They get the day off Monday, maybe some healing time.

I think FH could score as much as they wanted to as well... Even on the replay last night the CVS announcers kept saying "surratts is begging FH to try to pass". I hope if Douglass plays 8-9 men in the box the way surratts did they have the common sense to burn their D on a deep pass
