I've watched the 3 quarters that actually was aired on DIRECTV about 5 or 6 times now and each time shake my head in disbelief on how horrific those guys were. I mean considering we were supposed to be the home team you'd think they'd put some effort in knowing a little accurate information on us. Not! Lol If you closed your eyes and listen to the game you'd think Douglass was winning the game. They were tooting the Douglass horn the entire game. Then the information on players, relatives coaching, pronunciation of coach and player names, wrong kid going to Maryland. Really I don't care because the outcome was awesome but just curious on your guys thoughts on it.

Let me add that they kept harping on how folks in Cumberland will only marry people from their same school and everybody was related to each other. They almost did everything but outright suggesting Cumberland people are inbred folks who have to go to the same school, marry the same families and never leave the hills. Of course this doesn't explain the shrinking population or that the announcers have their facts all wrong.

And - according to the announcers - when the game was out of reach Douglas was only one score away from getting back in it.... and Douglas receivers were always open blah, blah... blah. The compliments to FH were pretty much about the team being hill folks that have played the game forever and did little else and knew little else.

I mean, come on.... Douglas couldn't even punt the ball.

Paid for one of the games several years ago - they were awful. Bought last year's DVD can't stand these guys.

Totally agree with everything you say. The bias was extremely evident.

I would direct your concerns to Mike Calhoun on the MPSSAA website. He is the tournament director. You can email him directly from that site. The comments are getting annoying for the second straight year. Love to see Toby Eirich added, he's twice as good as Doug Duvall. Also, a pitch to go back to College Park for a smaller venue and to help in their recruiting. And finally, the elimination of the programs were very disappointing.

Did I hear them correctly? All of our coaches were all star quarterbacks or something similar to that?

I don't know... I heard a lot of love for our "athletic line able to run the wing T. A lot of how our QB was tough playing the D line. Freshman leading the team in tackles, Smith love... Ect

These guys had 4 games in 3 days. I've watched the game 2 times completely. The Trimble comment disturbed me, or at least had shock value, but that was a lot of info to take in, and manage.

I'm sure they DIDNT have to allow atlantic broad band to carry the game. So I don't think (as "grateful" fans) we should be biting the hand that fed us just because it's was perfectly catered to western md.

Things don't improve if they don't hear their nonsense. I've watched the game several times myself and having criticism for their performance is certainly acceptable. I can say I haven't heard one person say their announcing was a positive performance. So you may be the first.

A lot of love is stretching it. They won't improve without feedback either positive or negative.

Yes... I'm sure due to ignorance of our alumni. However it's a well known fact that FH continues to have a great following, and a great deal of them travelled to the stadium to be a part of the game.

How bout them showing that kid dancing lol they said thats how they do it in cumberland... They kept getting the players names wrong. They were all for the Baltimore Schools even talking a couple times about how good Dunbar is.. They did'nt even know which FH player was going to MD lol...

If the announcers want to talk about toughness, discipline and the ability to run a machine-like wing-T, then fine. They can talk about heritage and rivalry in Cumberland. They can talk about the character of the players having played the game with such precision since they were young children. All of these things can be discussed the respect due a rural community.

But when everything is couched as "mountain folk" or the way it is "up in the hills" - all with the not too subtle inbred implications, then they should be brought to task for it. I only spent my younger days in Cumberland and I can tell you I was offended by the bigoted overtones.

Of course I get it. Since all of this is about rural, most white folks, then everyone is supposed to not be too sensitive about it. But I guarantee you if any of those announcers would have crossed the line concerning "the way it is in the hood" type crap, they would not be back next year.

I agree they made some crazy remarks but by writing the station or the MPSSAA about it would only make sure that they never do us a favor and carry the games on our local stations again.

"Up in the hills" was a remark meaning that we LIVE FOR FOOTBALL... It was a compliment towards our traditions...

Why does misery always try to ask for company?

Good... Let THEM duke it out, and let us be happy the elderly of western md can watch the games without being left out...

Hey! It's a forum, so if you want to carry water for 'Balt - bigots' go forth and do so. Some of the mistakes they make are slipshod and some are pure looking-down-one's-nose crap.... kind of like the "elderly" sludge you're troweling out. Those elderly butts do financially fill the home seats and contribute to the overall FH program.

And just for the record, the references to being up in the mountains had nothing to do with practicing and quality of football. It had to do with everybody being related to everybody and overtly loyal to their school. It was bigoted crap, pure and simple.

I'm sorry, I was just grateful we got the game televised locally. I'm also not self centered, nor is my planet flat... The dialogue you're trying to engage in just fits into the stereotype of what people think about our area.

Why does someone have to be self centered because they expect a little accuracy and professionalism? There would be no change at all if we just followed along like cattle. You just as us are entitled to your opinion. I just haven't heard many who agree with yours.
