I can't believe that this sight has absolutely nothing to talk about and especially the local football selections for offense and defense and player of the year.

I look forward to hearing from you all about your opinions...good and bad. What has happened to this sight?

My thoughts are that they got them right all the way around. A couple here and there on first team vice second teams, but all and all ...good selections.

Any comments or is it too cold to chat on here any more... :)

This site has been dead for a month or so!

Did alco ever fill week #1 for this fall?

This board is always slow in the non football months. I just dropped in because I thought somebody may be talking about the B-Ball playoffs.

What were the selections I usually depend on somebody posting and commenting. So....

Ty Johnson - POY
Gage Shaffer - OPOY
Kirk Robinette - DPOY

Appel and Whiteman co-coaches of the year.

I agree with all. If I had to raise issue, I would say I don't like the Co-Coach thing, in general - just pick one. Personally I would give the nod to Whitey as coach of the year. Simply because he took a team further than I think anyone expected, even some Frankfort fans woudl've expected. And while he had a talent pool that isn't seen more than once every 20 years or so at Frankfort, he got those kids to buy in and believe they could do it. They ran into a buzzsaw for the title, that just wasn't going to end any differently. But he helped coach that team to some huge wins over some good teams along the way.

It's hard to slight Appel, though, I understand. He helped coach FH to their first ever back-to-back titles and just destroyed everyone along the way. But looking at strength of schedule, level of playoff competition, my gut says Whitey had the tougher road to accomplish what he did.

Congrats to all.

To get a high school team up for two long seasons of wins seems to be a much more difficult achievement - hence the nod to Appel. And, although a big fan of Robinette, he turned out to be pretty much a non-factor on an otherwise mediocre Alco team - given it would have been terrible without him. I would not have raised an eyebrow if they had given the award to Barnes. His defensive hits were light-years more impact-full than whatever Robinette did to determine the few wins for Allegany.

So, even as we look to next year, if the junior squad at Allegany performs as it did in their last game of the season then FH may surprise us again. I would love to see better but you can't predict success when it doesn't happen again and again.
