Full disclosure... I am typing this up at halftime of the 2A Championship Game. Overall, the games have been very competitive, more competitive than I remember in years past. That is a good thing for MD High School Football.
The games have been very choppy. Way too many penalties in each and every game. Especially for being Championship Games. Very exciting to see good teams finding a way to win or put away a game in the end.
Very disappointed in the show that the MPSSAA has put on however. I do like the move of the games to Navy. That was a great decision. But I think that is the only good thing the MPSSAA has done. I am glad they put the games on TV finally. I have to think they can get a better crew than the current one. Just because you played in the NFL and were a great MD High School coach doesn't mean you can automatically be great on TV. The only decent person they had on the crew was the sideline reporter. I understand they have to give the play-by-play to Bruce because he is the sports reporter of the local Fox station in Baltimore. But you would do good by moving him to the sideline and having him do one teams sideline and the current sideline guy doing the other teams sideline. Then bring in a whole new booth crew. They missed key things in each game. It was like they weren't paying attention. Just dreadful announcing. And that is my opinion, not even bringing their obvious Baltimore Metro bias into play. The officiating has been horrible. Horrible in each game.
Did you see the plaque the Championship Team receives??? What a disgrace. What would it take to get rid of the MPSSAA? Probably overreacting a bit, lol.
