Southern going to the Championship

Southern beat Crisfield 66 - 52 in the semi. They scored 23 points in the last quarter to outscore Crisfield 23 - 12 in the fourth

Southern will play Lake Clifton tomorrow (Saturday) at 1:00 for the title. Lake Clifton beat Douglass PG earlier today 58-56. Lake Clifton is the defending 2A state champ. Good luck to the Rams, they are consistently one of the best coached teams in this area year in and year out.

I read an article that said if they win they will be the only school to win a state championship in all 4 classifications. From the article it looked like they have 2 good players that score a lot of points

Southern had another big guy go down in the game today. Ankle injury and doubtful he will be able to go tomorrow. Hopefully, given a day , their coach can make some adjustments to help slow the Lake Clifton front . I am told from those that saw them play today that they are big and physical.

Southern did great making it this far without one of their top players. The guy with the knee injury may be their best player, I’m not sure but he is good. After losing a player like that it’s not easy, congrats to Southern.

Between boys and girls basketball, the Rams have had a team in the state finals six straight years with two titles. Any time something like that can be done at the 1A level, it's pretty impressive.

Even at full strength Southern wasn't going to beat Lake Clifton or Douglass. Too much talent and experience on both of those squads. Definitely a great season for Southern
