Lost to Mervo...Mervo got smashed by Paint Branch in the playoffs.

Is this years Ducks better than last years?

Douglass turned the ball over 5 times in that game. Mervo isn't all that but they beat Edmondson too. Fundamentals and discipline are deff the two biggest factors in these games. How the hell do u turn the ball over 8!!!times!!! Douglass has a good RB, the transfer from Franklin who is a stocky low to the ground runner. They also have some other good backs. And apparently they'll pass like last year too. Other then that idk much. Their line appears bigger than last year

Oh they are! Their enrollment numbers have grown substantially considering all the recruiting they do! I find it hard for any bmore city school to be 1A with all the population. Like i said b4 they'll probably still play a soft schedule but no more running through their region with Milford, Franklin, Aberdeen, and now Bel Air waiting! Haha i love it

They're moving to 3A because theyve been reporting their enrollment incorrectly. The jump from 1A to 3A is about 300 students at least. Thatsnot from transfers..thats a counting mistake.

It's all downstate shenanigans, never-ending, all the time - different world with different rules. Dunbar ran its course until the sham became too laughable. Now, you got the transfers and deception about the enrollment. Is anybody really surprised?

In fact, the system is so openly corrupt you're an idiot for questioning it.

Or maybe two charter schools that had a population of 700 kids and less than 2 miles away from Douglass-B closed down.

Actually 1 move about 2-3 miles to Northwest Baltimore City and 1 closed down. The two schools was housed in a school building that was a 4A school known as Walbrook.

Yeah, they're proposing to shut down 2 more of the charter HS at the end of the year. The City Board of Ed is getting more serious about revoking charters for schools that aren't meeting academic benchmarks. The ones on the chopping block are W.E.B. DuBois and Heritage. DuBois has football. They share the old Northern HS building with Reginald Lewis.

Heritage is one of a 2 schools that feed into the Lake Clifton athletic program. Lake Clifton the school doesn't exist any more. Heritage and REACH! are the 2 charter schools that combine for athletic purposes and play as Lake Clifton.

Southwestern fields athletic teams and the old Southwestern HS isn't even standing any more. It's just a few random schools playing under the Southwestern name.

Northwestern is planned to be closed in 2016. This is all part of the 26 schools they're shutting down between 2012-2022.

They do all the planned closings, we won't see any 1A city schools anymore!

But, weren't the charter school students playing sports with the regular school - so, the regular school was 1A but the charter students were a shadow school for sports that increased the talent pool. The schools were always larger. They just found a way to hide the numbers for sports classification.

If a school offers a specialized program (i.e. STEM or Allied Health) that allows students to apply for enrollment on a district-wide basis, those students count towards the school's enrollment.

Charter programs are totally separate from anything else. They might share the same buildings as another City public school but they are different entities entirely. For example, Dunbar shares its campus with National Academy Foundation. NAF fields its own athletic teams in all sports including football.

When 2 or more charter schools combine to field athletic teams (Southwestern, Lake Clifton) they count the combined enrollment of all the schools making up the co-op.

Baltimore City schools are many things, very few of them good, but they are not being run with the idea of creating athletic powerhouses. In fact, the proliferation of charter schools has spread City talent as thin as its ever been. Baltimore has half the population of Dallas and has more public/charter high schools playing football.

The rise of Saint Frances Academy as a private school with no admission standards located blocks from Dunbar is taking in a ton of City athletes as well. They'd much rather play in the MIAA A than the MPSSAA.
