How did the high school football season go overall?
“Overall, our season was a tough one, but a great growing experience. With most of our seniors injured by the end of the fall, it meant a lot of young guys got playing time and really shined. Our record put a spotlight on areas where we need to improve as a team this coming season. Besides that, I had a good individual season. Our defense had to be on the field a lot. As a result, as a middle linebacker, I led the DMV in tackles for much of the season. I averaged 15.1 TPG and by the end of the season led DC in tackles with 136.”
What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“My plans for sports and workouts are to first work out 4 days a week until the end of the winter sports season and in spring to play lacrosse for Sidwell. In addition, I also play on the Next Level lacrosse club team with practices on the weekends this spring and with showcases/tournaments in the summer. I am also looking for some good specialty football camps and expect to keep up an intense strength and agility workout program for the summer.”
What are you trying to improve on the most as a player?
“I am trying to improve my lateral quickness and my pass coverage. My run defense skills are at the level I need to be currently, but I want to improve in pass coverage to stop any passes thrown over my zone.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I feel like Sidwell will do better next season. We have lost a bunch of great seniors and one sophomore, but overall, I feel like our rising sophomores will progress nicely and hopefully be able to fill those big shoes. We will also have a returning coaching staff unlike last year which is always very nice.”
Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule next season?
“I don’t know who is on our schedule next year except for our in-conference opponents, so with that knowledge I would say Flint Hill. They always field a great team and are tough to game plan against.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I do want to play football or lacrosse in college, but I don’t know which or if I might play both. The college I attend will hopefully be academically elite, have a great culture and environment, and obviously a good football team with great coaching and teammates.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I can’t really say yet as I want to keep that info private.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“None that were official or where I was invited, but I have visited many NESCAC and Ivy League schools, which look great. There were others like Villanova, Virginia, USC, and Boston College, which I visited while traveling.”
Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“No specific planned trips, but I look forward to visiting schools this summer and during tournaments and ID days.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I had two favorite colleges growing up; South Carolina and Michigan. South Carolina because most of my dad’s family went there along with a great, great uncle who played football for the Gamecocks in the 1920s and Michigan because it’s where my mother and an uncle went.”
