What were your initial thoughts when the football season was postponed until the spring?
“I was disappointed that the season was postponed. I especially felt bad for the seniors, but I understand the decision.”
What are your workout plans at this point going forward?
“The areas that I will continue to focus on are speed, strength, position specific drills and learning our playbook. Landon is offering a modified track and field program this fall that I will participate in. I should be able to get my speed work, conditioning and lifting through that. I will continue to train with coach Erik Nowell at First Sound Training on weekends. Hopefully, I’ll still be able to catch balls with the QBs over at Coach Thompson’s Fairfax Football Academy.”
What are your goals for the season?
“I’m new to Landon, so I want to earn the trust and confidence of my new teammates and coaches. I want to help my team compete for a league championship and establish myself as one of the top receivers in the DMV.”
How has Covid factored into your off-season workouts?
“When my school transitioned to online learning, I had to get creative with my workouts. I ran hills to stay in shape. Instead of lifting with the team, I lifted on my own at home following a personalized workout my strength coach made. During the later phases when restrictions were lifted, I also caught balls with QBs from other schools.”
How do you feel your team will do this football season?
“We have a talented group of seniors, a number of them will have the opportunity to play in college. We have good athletes on both sides of the ball. We should be able to compete with any team we play against.”
Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“This will be my first year in the IAC. I am still getting familiar with other teams in the league. Regardless, my team and I play hard against all opponents.”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against this fall?
“I know the IAC has a lot of players with FBS and FCS offers, including some of my teammates. Some of the toughest competition I’ll face will be at practice. “
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I want to play D1 college football.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“There have been a couple of FBS and FCS schools that have made inquiries about me.”
Do you have plans for game day trips this fall?
“Not yet. I’m not sure how things will work given the pandemic.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“Not yet.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“My dad played football at Stanford, so we always watched those games on TV, especially during the Andrew Luck era. My mom graduated from Cal and USC Law School, so I followed those schools as well.”
