Apparently a bunch of the “over 40” Delawders in Paw Paw are on a bit of a fitness kick here of late. As such, they’ve been carpooling with each other to Planet Fitness in South Cumberland for a daily workout.

Athletic Director Delmer Delawder used his Black Card Membership “bring a guest” feature to bring Head Coach Tim Refosco along last Tuesday. If you don’t already know, Tim Refosco is Jim Refosco’s lesser known half-brother.

After a grueling side by side workout on the Stair Climber followed by a Water Massage, the two grabbed Chopped Salads from Subway and headed back to Paw Paw down Route 51. 5 Miles South of Mexico Farms Delawder’s car broke down and he couldn’t get a signal on his car phone to call for help.

Finally, after about 30 minutes, a mysterious man in a 1980’s model van pulled up and offered to give the fellas a ride to Paw Paw. The nice, distinguished, older driver drove Delawder and Refosco clear to Paw Paw and along the way they talked and talked and really enjoyed each other’s Company.

After they were dropped off, Refosco turned to Delawder and said “we didn’t even get that Fellas name.” “I think it was FUMBLE, Delawder replied.” “FUMBLE??—Refosco asked quizzically?? “Sure,” Delawder exclaimed, “didn’t you notice every time we passed someone along the road they threw up their hand and yelled HEY FUMBLE?”

Their only other clue to the mysterious man’s identity is when he pulled away there was what appeared to be a Fort Hill Football Player painted on the rear tire cover of the van. After searching the white pages in book form and online for a “Mr. Fumble” in South Cumberland, Delawder and Refosco found no results.

So, they picked up the phone and called Two Todd’s from Fort Hill to see if they might have the mysterious Mr. Fumble’s phone number. Turned out that this phone call found both parties to be in a state of desperation over their football schedules, and out of necessity more than want, Fort Hill and Paw Paw folks agreed to open a dialogue over a possible week 1 game for the 2018 season.

The only sticking point right now seems to be Paw Paw’s demand that Josh Delawder be named as the 3rd co-winner of the Times-News Player of the Year Award. “It’s too late for Football” an anonymous source was quoted as saying, “but we can probably make it happen in Basketball.” So we’ll see, let’s hope the two juggernauts can strike a deal and give the people what they want.
