PA is introducing a bill next week that could seperate state playoffs for public and private/charter schools. The bill would give PIAA the ability to place public schools in a state tournament and private/charter schools in a different state tournament. In 1972 Act 219 was put in place which allowed private schools to compete with public schools. PIAA could not seperate public and private schools because of this law.

Big topic in the Pittsburgh newspapers.

Bigger disparity of talent in MD than in PA but yes still an advantage for the privates. Maryland’s privates are beasts compared to PAs in general imho

This bill should pass with flying colors. No excuse for public schools to be competiting with privates for state titles
