This MVAL debacle is putting a hurting on scheduling for the 3 counties involved. It's my understanding that Linganore needs to fill several weeks, not sure which weeks though. Just putting it out there..............

Dover (DE) (who Urbana played last year) is looking to start a home-and-home Week 4.

McDonogh has weeks 2,3,4,5 open. Every other MIAA school has multiple openings.

Aberdeen needs Week 9

Bel Air needs 1,2,3 &5

Boonsboro needs Week 9

Brunswick needs Week 7

Catoctin needs Weeks 3 & 8

Clear Spring needs Weeks 3 & 6

Stephen Decatur needs Week 1

Easton needs Week 7

Edgewood needs Week 6

Edmondson needs Week 1

Havre de Grace needs Week 8

Kent County needs Week 10

Liberty needs Week 9

Middletown needs Weeks 1 & 2

Queen Anne's County needs Week 4

Rising Sun needs Week 1

Smithsburg needs Week 5

Tuscarora needs Week 5

Washington needs Week 5

Winters Mill needs Week 2

I would assume that 2 of our open dates are Weeks 1 & 3 where South Carroll and North Hagerstown were. I wouldn't mind a week 1 trip to Ocean City to play Stephen Decatur. The water would still be pretty warm then!

Hopefully FH & Alco can fill their schedules for next year and maybe beyond with former MVAL schools.

According to another post FH's open dates are weeks 1,5,6,7. I see where Middletown has week 1 open.. Let's make it happen

It would stand to reason that FH and ALCO will find games with teams like Middletown, Walkeresville, Oakdale, Tuscarora and South High rather than the independent Washington County 1A teams . My guess is that as soon as these small 1a Washington County teams honor their contracts with 2a Frederick County teams they will drop them.

Or am I missing another reson why that county went independent. The Washington County Schools will try to pick up additional 1a teams . This conference is dead.

FH needs Weeks 1,6,7

Although FH is talking with the I-95 Kickoff Classic for Week 1. They are trying to locate an opponent of equal competitiveness. It's funny because FH has balked at some possibilities only to find out that other team also balked at playing FH. I see it with every coach in every state. LOL

Can you mention who FH picked up for week #5?

As far as the I-95 classic could FH and Douglass-PG be a matchup there?

FH slid Capitol Christian into Week 5.

I don't know about the Kickoff Classic. Others run it and they chose match ups based on what they need too. There are always issues with everything it seems. Keep in mind that FH needs three games. Two of them need to be home games making it brutally tougher. The kickoff classic is always a road game with no hope of getting a return home game out of it. But everyone also understands FH has no choice. So finally they entertained the Kickoff Classic. I will say this...if FH picks up Douglass or Linganore for example you can assume that the other two open date opponents will be MATHS types that get paid to come to Greenway since no other 1A teams will touch FH. So again, people will continue to complain about MATHS type teams on the schedule but since no other 1A/2A teams will play FH, this is what you get. I blame the other 1A/2A schools and the system that dealt those cards more than I blame FH. FH just played their hand very smart since they couldn't change what the dealer handed out.

The same people who complain about playing these type of MATHS games don't care about the playoff picture. Although many have come around now that they see what it means for FH in the postseason.

I understand FH siution but forcing regional teams to play FH a is not the answer. A open week game with Garrett, Washington, Frederick or Carrol County 1a teams provides little entertainment and plenty of resentment.

If FH and for that matter ALCO are patient they'll have options in the future that they never had before. (Boonsboro will run to get away from Walkersville or Middletown now that they are 1a and independent). Petitioning the MPSSAA to form a regionally regular season round Robbin is unrealistic and will eliminate some of the quality games that FH a plays now and in the future.

Both schools should be working on this years as well as the next few years schedule. Fans want to see legitimate competitors rather than forced conference or regional play. There is a light at the end of the tunnel for FH. traditional Frederick county football teams will be willing to come to cumberland .... Washington county teams should never get the invite.

by the wAy when these 1a teams come for a playoff game they should receive to 60 point pounding that Northern received.

I don't think you'll have people complaining if you pick up Douglass or Liganore and then schedule MATHS type teams. I think people complain when your schedule is full of MATHS type teams and refuse to schedule one or 2 quality opponents... I think that's what people complain about..

They can complain all they want but it makes no sense for FH to load the schedule with solid/good 3A/4A teams and take a chance in missing the playoffs with the current region format! What sense does it make for them to make a schedule that coukd be 3-4 loses and miss the playoffs when they're the best 1A program right now. Alco ppl shouldn't complain anyway. Last time i checked they schedule said 'cupcakes' as well. I've said b4 Towson is the worst 3A program in the state, they play the same teams as Fh and have teams like St. Charles who have never had a football program. I thought they'd be better then what they were getting some Mcdonough kids ect, but wow!

What part of " 1 or 2 quality opponents... " does people have a hard time understanding?? Since when does one quality opponent or possibly 2 quality teams on the schedule equate to loading your schedule???? Some people only hear what they want...

I agree with you on that bigsavage. On the opposite side, no one really wants FH to pick up 1A West regional opponents to load the schedule. But one or two of them should be the norm instead of having to grab MATHS multiple times. If just a couple of region opponents would play no one would have ever seen these charter schools on the schedules. It's gawd awful to know that there are 11 teams in the 1A West region and only one of them will play FH and that's homecoming. Awful, awful, awful.

I know it's a double edge sword, but Fort Hill's policy should be if you're in our region and refuse to play us because you're worried about not making the playoffs then we will make "'making" the playoffs unbearable for you. Plan on losing 80-0, no holds barred. I don't understand these teams, you gotta get by Fort Hill and I use to say Allegany anyway. What are the coaches worried about, do they think going 7-3 instead of 8-2 is really going to matter when the season will end at Greenway getting beat 80-0. Embarrass them.

I completely agree with the last post and if I was Todd I would ask the team for a regular season home and home series prior to that contest and then if a regional playoff team said no way. I would "release the hounds" on that team. I would make it known publicly as well that the team refuses to play in the regular season.

Why is there a running clock for playoff games anyway ... Aren't these 4 teams suppose to be the best quality. I bet if that rule were changed you wouldn't see Northern and a host of others scheduling their team into a possible 80-0 game ... And that first round game could have been every bit as bad as 80-0!

As far as playing a 3a/4a schedule the bonus points of beating some if not most of those teams will get you in the playoffs as well as prepare a team for a championship run. I say accept the challenge of the tough schedule and let the pretenders schedule MATHs.
