Loyola 7 Gilman 6. Not a bad win for a team that was 2-8 last year!

Loyola is definitely improving but Gilman is not the Gilman of old or anything approaching it. They are 1-7 with their only win being over Cardinal O'Hara, the 264th ranked team in New York (#8,543 nationally).

Gilman folded their JV program this year due to lack of interest/participation and have only 38 players in their program 9-12. In 2015, they finished #19 in the country and had varsity, JV and F/S teams. Just three years later they're ranked #3,089 in the country.

I wasn't aware that Gilman had taken such a fall from being a top program. What happened to them?

Wait a minute, I just checked their schedule. At 1- 7, they are still ranked 53rd in the State of Maryland. Their losses to Maryland teams are to #4 Mt. St. Joe, #10 Georgetown Prep, #11 St. Mary's, #6 Calvert Hall, and Loyola. Their out of State losses were to Gonzaga of DC and to Episcopal of Va. Talk about a monster schedule!!

Gilman may have fallen some, but when you pit them against publics, they are anything but a pushover.
