This game is going to be huge when it comes to seeding in the playoffs. Can Mountain Ridge get it's 100th victory in school history? They've been trying for three weeks to do so.

The Huskies use almost all of the first quarter clock to go on a methodical 80-yard touchdown scoring drive to start the game. Extra point was good. 7-0 Huskes with 1:13 to go in the first quarter.

Miner defense had several opportunities on the drive to get off the field on third down. Even one fourth down. They weren't able to stop the Huskies on any of them.

Mountain Ridge gets one first down but is forced to punt following a negative play on first down. Northern will take over on their own 26-yard down.

Miners get a much-needed stop on defense and takes over near midfield.

They get one good play and then throw a pick. Nice return by Nothern. Huskies have the ball at MR 47.

Mountain Ridge defense gets another stop following one first down. Less than 5 minutes to go in the first half. Injuries have decimated this MR team. Offense is nearly nonexistent. Not helping the defense at all.

Mountain Ridge gets one first down, drive stalls at the 50-yard line, and they are forced to punt the ball again. Huskies take over at their own 15-yard line with 2:17 to go in the first half.

The Huskies are perfectly satisfied with running the clock out. They get one first down and accomplish that task. Huskies lead 7-0 at halftime.

Mountain Ridge uses a strong return on the opening kickoff of the second half to get good field position. Miners drive down and tie the game at 7. 9:03 to go in the third quarter.

Northern gets one first down, picked up on a short 4th and inches play, but lose the ball on an exchange and MR gets a big turnover.

Huskies hold and get a turnover of their own. 4:12 to go in the third quarter. They get the ball back at their own 20-yard line. They also get a personal foul penalty on the first play. One more big run and they are already at midfield.

Huskies score two plays later. Long touchdown run. Extra point is good. 14-7 Northern, 2:20 to go in the third quarter.

Mountain Ridge uses two long passes to go down the field and score. Touchdown pass was on a third-and-10 play. Extra point is good. 14-14 tie with 7.5 seconds to go in the third quarter.

Northern gets a big first down run to start their drive. They will have the ball, 1st and 10 at their own 35 to start the fourth quarter.

Northern has drove the ball deep inside Miner territory. They converted on a third-and-7 play, but it was called back on a clear hold. Under 4 minutes to go in the game. Still tied at 14.

Huskies jump offsides on the following play. Northern set up with 3rd-and-20 with under 3:30 to play in the game.

Huskies are going to try a field goal on fourth-and-11.

Kick was no good. Mountain Ridge to take over at their own 20-yard line with 2:27 to go.

Mountain Ridge uses two big plays to get deep into Huskie territory. They will line up for a potential game winning field goal. Timeout MR.

Huskies score a touchdown to get overtime started. They convert on a third-and-three play. Extra point is wide left. 20-14 Northern, with Mountain Ridge's possession upcoming.

Northern Scores in OT but misses XP
Mountain Ridge takes over from the 10 yard line for their series

First down - Pass incomplete in the corner of the endzone.

Second down - Bad snap, loss of 15 yards

Time out Mountain Ridge.

Third down - Mountain Ridge finds a streaking receiver down the sideline, TOUCHDOWN MINERS!!!

Extra point is good. MR escapes with a 21-20 victory. WOW O WOW!!!

Mountain Ridge gets their 100th victory in school history this evening in Accident. If you are a Mountain Ridge Miner fan, the only thing that would have made it better would've been if the victory came against Allegany or Fort Hill. They had their chance to get it last week against Fort Hill.

This program has come so far in the past 5-8 years. The 2024 campaign will not be a repeat of the past three seasons, but they are sitting at 4-3 with two regular season games left.

The JV team has only one loss this year; I believe, to Frankfort, so let's see what the next few years bring under Coach Shipe.

I have been very impressed with the fight in this year's team. They have had so much go against them thus far, but here they are with two regular season games left.
