Coach Appel said on the post-game interview this past week that he feels Melbourne CC will be their toughest game!

Are they a good football team or do they just have a few good athletes? I don't know much about them..

Should be a good game then.. I will check it out. I hope my money gets me more than a quarter of football...

USA today score predictor has FH winning 42-28. In the past we've seen FH play schools with more D1 talent but they cant hang because they are not as well coached or cant defend the wing-T. BTW, the score predictor has Melbourne beating Allegany by 2 TDs. They have Alco beating Keyser by 10 and FH beating Alco by 24. Not always accurate but fun to look at.

Melbourne is the #65 ranked team in Florida and nationally ranked #772 (Maxpreps), playing on the road at 4 time state champions Fort Hill (nationally ranked #670). Melbourne is easily a 14 point underdog. Especially since MCC isn't particularly stout against the run and that's what FH does best.

But FH not being particularly stout against the pass is of no issue? To a QB with a 70% accuracy?

Fwiw, I think FH is a 14 point favorite. But while its fine to point out MCC's weaknesses to FH's strengths, it goes the other way too. And I will fully admit that MCC has played a tougher schedule to this point.

That is a legitimate point, but on the high school level I think being weak against the run is much more of a handicap. It's rare for a high school squad, especially these smaller schools, to consistently complete passes.

Last year, I was the first to predict some runaway scores for FH and hit some of those closer than anybody. But that was a team that had practically everything. Is this team as good? Frankly, I don't think so. Are we just assuming, because of the current FH record, that this team has all the weapons for both offensive and defense that last year's team had.

I hope FH gets the win, great for the school and the community. But as a person who has beaten the drum of competition, this game would have been nice to work up to, not thrust upon a team not challenged all year - or (what do I know) not challenged because they are simply that good.

Let us not make the mistake of thinking MCC is not well coached. They are and will come to play. This playoff prep time FH's starters will have to play all 4 quarters these next two weeks and vs Alco! I believe Coach Appel will have Big Read Ready!

Did I mention they have six kids with D1 offers? I listed them for those that think the game is being hyped.
How long has it taken Cumberland to produce that many? I have seen the same stat used to degrade FH for not producing D1 scholarships. Then find those same people dismiss the stat if it is a team playing against FH. Which is it?

Anyways, I'm off to greet the Melbourne CC bus. Will be with them all weekend. Feeding them tonight, walk through at the stadium.

Then sending them to Moon Glo skating rink for entertainment. Boys fast skate all night. LOL (just kidding of course).

IT'S TIME!

Is there going to be a media frenzy at the hotel when they get there?.....Maybe Lag will be there with his 1965 Alco jersey on.

I think it can be argued that this year's team is better. They returned the Times-News Offensive Player of the Year, both Defensive Players of the Year, and they got back from injury an All-Area caliber player. There's a reason why FH is ranked over 100 spots higher than MCC on Maxpreps.

Actually Todd I think Roller Skating at Moon Glo is just what the Doctor ordered, literally. Think of all the potential rolled ankles and the potential for skin infections due to contact with the 50 year old Shag Carpet on the walls.

Questions
How many has FH won in a row? 31 or 32??
What was the last streak stopped on by Keyser 29 I think?

TD, where will MCC be practicing at, if at all? If u can’t divulge that info...I understand.

The more film I look at and twitter accounts have me thinking this could be a really good game. These are some pretty big boys coming to town. They don’t look like they shy away from the weight room either!

Oh, I forgot. Does remind me though that another Robinette will get hosed this year.

could not agree with you more. we shall see, but there are so many things we don't really know. is it better to have one player that is incredible or 4 that are just about as fast and are way fresher and healthier due to not so many carries? some people run over people and some around them, some can take a hit and others are slowed by it. if one of these backs go down there is plenty in the stable to step in. same goes wit defense. last year it was a never ending saga that the qb had to play defense because he was so much better than anybody else...he took some hits and was clearly affected on several occasions. this year there are several people that can step in and do the job. does that mean nobody is as outstanding or are they all equally good? again, we shall see.

I'm local but a good friend from high school now lives in Melbourne. His take is that Melbourne has great skill athletes and will make some big plays but that Fort Hills line play and toughness will wear them down for the win. Let's hope for a good game and great crowd.

I think last year's team was better. Conley, Brown and Graves along with all the studs from this year. I'd go with last years team and the first title team as the 2 best of the last 4 FH title teams. Just one man's opinion.

31 and 29 if I remember correctly

Thanks for the info...
I don't think there is any chance for anyone other than a FH Player winning POY if FH goes 10-0 and then wins The Title again...

Robinette has to win player of the yr. Could you imagine how bad Alco would be without that beast? He carries that team weekly on both sides of the ball...

if we're talking the single offensive guy who makes the biggest impact on the team, def robinette.

that's exactly why I don't think he will win, that's not how they pick it, it's not most valuable to your team.
No way they give it to an Alco player on a Team with 2 losses over a FH Player that is undefeated, played better Teams and put up big numbers. FH has won 61 out of 62 and the streak is at 32 or 33?
no chance in hell anyone other than a FH Players win this Award, I have seen it way too many years in the past.
Appel will be coach of the year, FH area Champs, and the offensive and defensive players will be split by another FH Player and Robinette of Alco UNLESS Alco pulls off a miracle at Homecoming and repeats that feat two weeks later. FH Football is King and until someone knocks the King down they will own all postseason awards
