I've been doing some research on defunct high schools and football programs and came across the Frederick Street/Carver African-American school in Cumberland. They started playing six-man football in 1944 in a league with other African-American schools in Virginia and West Virginia. I was wondering if anyone knew anything more about them. Here's a team picture (year unknown):

Allegany County High School (ALCO) played them before becoming Allegany High School in 1926.

I did some research a few years ago but I dropped it because I kept running into walls. The Carver school was in a league with other African-American schools. They mainly competed with other black schools in Maryland like North Street (Hagerstown), Frederick (Lincoln), Douglass (Upper Marlboro), and College Park (Lakeland). My father won a state basketball championship in 1949 with Lakeland. It's interesting because although the MPSAA (what they were called then) recognized the league, they didn't keep any records.

The team from Martinsburg would have been Ramer High School. They were intergrated into the local schools back in the early 60s. Don't know about the Football teams, but they had some outstanding Basketball Teams in that time period. Of course, this was back in the times when they were not allowed to attend White Schools.
