Hollidaysburg returns home after a two-game road trip to play Fort Hill, Md. this Friday, at least what’s left of the Golden Tigers.
“We still don’t have Hunter (Barr), Mason (Replogle), D.J. (Heim) and A.J. Weyant hasn’t been back,” Hollidaysburg coach Homer DeLattre said. “Trent Paddock has been hobbled by his ankle, so we’ve lost our two inside linebackers and Ian DiPangrazio and Hunter Gibbons didn’t finish last week’s game. It’s still unknown whether they’ll play. Gavin Amick and Gage Shawley haven’t played much, so you’re talking close to seven guys that are out and more that aren’t 100 percent.”
DeLattre is in his seventh year at Hollidaysburg and his 18th year as a head coach overall after spending 11 years at Corry, and the amount of injuries his current squad is dealing with is something he can’t remember experiencing.
“I can’t really recall,” DeLattre said. “I know we’ve had a lot of guys out before, but never so many preseason injuries. I’ve never experienced anything like that, where we’ve had some of our better guys, who are returning letterwinners and returning starters who haven’t played yet.”
Hollidaysburg lost to Fort Hill, 19-7, last year after a pair of lopsided losses in the previous two years.
“Fort Hill is one of the best programs in the state of Maryland,” DeLattre said. “They’ve won many state titles, so it’s an excellent program and a big test for a lot of our young guys. It should be a good challenge, and it’s all preparation for the postseason.”
