Falcons get an easy win in the first football game at The Trojans new field. It is going to be an interesting season to say the least in WV. A lot of controversy so far.

WV has been using a map that shows teams whether or not they are able to practice or play games each day/week. There have been a lot of complaints thus far about when the map gets updated. It has been updated wrong on at least one occasion. Yesterday, teams for the county that Morgantown is in, were told late afternoon that they weren't able to play their games last night due to a spike in Covid cases in the county. According to multiple published reports, almost all new cases were tied to students at WVU, and were not in fact tied to citizens (non WVU) throughout the county. No players or coaches of any high school teams tested positive. But their games were still canceled. Yet, WVU is allowed to play their game today even though the positive cases came from that University.

None of this makes sense. In Ohio most high schools are playing as well as the Browns, the Bengals and the University of Cincinnati but Ohio State isn't allowed. In Indiana, Notre Dame is playing football with fans permitted in the stands but Purdue and Indiana aren't allowed to play. And here Frankfort and Keyser can play but Alco, FH and MR can't even though the MD Governor has placed the state in stage 3 and encourages schools to open their buildings for students. Which is safer, sitting inside a small movie theater with people in every other seat or sitting outside in a big open stadium with plenty of fresh air? Frankfort/Hampshire only parents were allowed to attend. Science and common sense is absent. Fear of lawsuits is what is driving most of this nonsense. Same reason they cancel school with an inch of snow on the ground.

Teacher's union. No lawsuit would prevail, especially after the Governor went to stage 3. Besides, private schools are open.... kids will test positive after 40 cycle tests even though no active viruses are present. They know this. It's perfectly safe for kids. Again, teacher's union. **** the kids is their motto.

FH, Alco, MR, Northern and Southern could play but what kind of season would it be? There is fat chance of any other school in MD playing. There is fear around bringing in teams from out of state. Theoretically, these five could join Frankfort, Keyser, Hampshire and Moorefield and all play each other and everyone would have eight games. But with the way WV is doing it, no game is guaranteed each week. It is a crying shame what is going on here. Hopefully winter and spring sports still happen. Even if they were to try and play football later... with how many kids that play multiple sports... it would be tough on the kids.

Schools that are in counties with colleges within the county have a disadvantage. The college numbers count because the students are considered to be a part of that community. I don't particularly care for it and it is a bit unfair. Personally I would like to see them test some of the team members and base it from there using a different metric.

WV's color-coded map and metric isn't perfect but it allows the state to move forward with opening schools and playing fall sports and extracurricular's. It's new, has it's faults, and of course will need tweaked but other than the colleges impact it has helped the state move forward.

WV color system
is actually a professional paintball game

Stupid thing about it
You can be Yellow on Saturday, the day weekly map is set,
Turn Red, you cant play that week
but
Be Orange on Saturday,
Turn Yellow
You still cant play that week

Should work both ways when your color changes during a week

Mon County(Morgantown) was yellow on August 30th suppose to be allowed to play,
Turned Orange on Tuesday September 1,
Turned Red on Friday September 4,
Was told by WVSSAC You can play if you turn Red day of game,
About 2:30pm with 2 teams already on the road to play a game,
being driven by their own parents, since NO buses in Mon County for sports are allowed this year,
Get a call All sports and school are now closed in Mon County for the week of September 4 to September 12,
Change the rules as you go by Governor Justice
