Absolutely! My son is head coach & secondary coach.I will have to fully admit that when it comes to putting a coaching staff together I have the slightest idea on how head coaches pick their staff. Is it normal for a high school team to have a secondary coach and defensive coordinator?
Good questions... My son was the D-coord + LB coach for about 10 yrs before taking over the head coach position. He brought in a good LB coach and moved himself to the d-backs. He calls the defensive signals, and no one else that I know of signals to other positions. He doesn't call the offensive plays. There's a lot of different ways it can be done. Just depends on the program & how the head coach wants to handle it.I didn't think that it was abnormal but I thought I would ask anyway. I know it is the norm for College and Pro Football teams but wasn't sure about High School. I mean they have a coach in the Pros for everything except how the players should act when not with team (which maybe they need) and there are so many at college level. It just seems odd to have some of your defense looking at one coach for a call and the others looking at a different one for a call. Seems to me it could cause some confusion at some point.
