FH vs Hollidaysburg, my thoughts

I didn’t feel like Hollidaysburg would win 1 game out of 10. FH had 2 touchdown runs called back. Both were in the 2nd half. On the first touchdown run called back. The hold was well after the running back was passed the play.. The second holding call was clearly a great block by number 25. Check it out around the seven minute mark in the third quarter. FH clearly let off the gas when they were up 20-0 towards the end of the 3rd quarter.
We are so blessed to have this coaching staff.

People can say what they want. It doesn’t matter. Fort hill wins a state title this year and whatever year they decide to field a team. The 1A bracket is so sad. You can’t blame the kids or the coaches for what is for what is front of them but it is what it is. Congrats on another title. No one else in 1A is within 35 of Dunbar. I wish the kids could get the respect they deserve but the state sought otherwise.

Right. The head official must work for the NFL. No Fun League
This discussion has now engulfed Cumberland 😂
Not so much over the actual topic of stadium lights, but more about principles and what the system is teaching children.

Seriously, you can't celebrate with flickering lights because it creates tension? I'm working on getting to the bottom of this story. Not fully clear on the details. Stay tuned.

I’m tired of hearing that football is so bad in 1a. Is it so bad in baseball? , Because we can’t win a title. Is it so bad in basketball? We can’t win a title there either. How about the other sports that we can’t win titles in.

Has anyone even noticed that the JV team has lost to Mountain Ridge 3 of the last 4 years.

The JV team just lost to Musselman. I looked at Musselmans roster and they have more sophomores on the varsity roster than FH does

FH beat the pants off of Oakdale during the years that they were title contenders in 3a

FH wins at football because of the coaches and tradition.

We should be celebrating it instead of minimizing it!

Here's a question nobody has asked. If 1a is so watered down and so bad then why isn't MR or Allegany winning any titles?

My original response wasn’t a dig at FH. I even stated that it’s a shame they can’t get the respect they deserve.
The answer of why Ridge and Alco can’t win 1A - Fort Hill.
I would love to see the state go back to 4 classes and have some competition in the playoffs. Regardless of being a down year for ridge/alco, we will still see a rematch in the title game.

Ironically enough the only place that Fort Hill does't get the respect it should is here in Western Maryland. Spending the better part of 40 plus years down state, Allegany County football has always been well regarded all over the state. Regardless of classification the county schools have always been well respected, as you can tell by scheduling difficulties. For some reason that Red/Blue line, and now with the success of MR, locals try to find fault with anything that each other accomplishes. Maybe its time to recognize the success the area has in all athletics, instead of minimizing their accomplishments. Believe me, the rest of the state does respect Allegany County.

I disagree. While you might pick up more bumps and bruises, I think that you'll pick up more injuries playing teams with lesser talent. There're more late or bad hits along with people laying on the ground.

The injury issue really comes down to over exertion. A player who has basically been on the field for the whole game runs the risk of an overuse injury. But I am with you Bleedred, generally.

At some point kids have to play 4 quarters.
Playing 4 quarters vs playing 4 quarters both ways. I still contend the highest percentage of injuries you see are not impact or sudden injuries. They are knee, ankle, strains, sprains, tears, etc. Overuse of certain joints in a single game playing offense and defense at high intensity cause those injuries. Not being hit by a bigger or better player.

You're much more likely to get one of those injuries when you really never get to take break outside of a 3 minute quarter change and a 15 minute halftime break.

Yea, it's a problem these days for large rosters to face small rosters. I made a point to brag to our FH coaches that I never came off the field when I played at FH, ever. Their retort is that with today's spread offenses and no-huddle approach, it extends the amount of plays and the amount of energy a defense is required to exhert. I agree, it's not the same now.

Wadsworth exploited this last year. The FH players were zapped before the 4th quarter even arrived. I expect Briar Woods to do the same...quick snap spread stuff in an attempt to ware this FH team down. FH can counter with 9 minute drives of their own. But if they start to go 3 and out it's a problem.

I am getting the belief that FH coaches are doing all they can to rotate players. Not as many going both ways on purpose, even if the one player is better suited than his replacement they would rather have fresh bodies. It is true - a fresh back up is many times better than a tired starter.

"a fresh back up is many times better than a tired starter."

Just ask Allegany.
