It's a nice honor to be recognized in the western mountains. And I don't want to start another schedule debate and/or people can hate me for speaking my mind smack talk. But this is a silly, silly poll. It has no validity as few of these teams play each other. I don't believe for a minute FH is the sixth best team in Maryland. Those bigger schools like Quince Orchard and high profile privates like DeMatha and Good Counsel, who despite their mediocre record, are on an entirely different level. Comparing them makes zero sense. They are not using guys on both sides of the ball much if at all. The rosters are too big full of kids who can ball. That's not a knock on FH in the least, they only have so many kids to work with. Considering this, a 1A public getting that recognition - even though twisted - is good for this area. I just think they should have two polls like they do All-State players...a 1A/2A list and a 3A/4A list.

It also shows however that winning is all that matters regardless of what the schedule looks like. That is how all voting polls work. Those voters see wins and losses not scheduling parameters. This also goes for the insanely stupid playoff system. Wins and losses are all that matters. If you believe like me that FH is not ahead of DeMatha and Good Counsel, then you also have to believe that Melbourne CC and Friendship are top quality programs despite their records. Yes, their schedules are brutal.

Point being...teams are penalized for playing tough schedules whether it's a poll or a state point system such as we have.

I believe more in the state poll rankings than Max preps.. FH should be ranked high in the state. You have to take into consideration the streak and consecutive championships...

I think Fort Hill can hang with many of the better 4A/3A publics. The offense they run is not something the big publics see often and definitely not as technically sound as the Sentinels. The Bullis - Quince Orchard game showed this. On the flip side I do believe Fort Hills D would struggle vs the bigger public schools.
