Believe it or not.....score could have been worse. Todd had 2nd team in at skill positions 1/2 way thru 2nd qtr. Fort Hill did what they were supposed to do. We left at half time.

Best part of the game was when an USO coach (I assume) walked 1/3 of the way on the field to yell about a flag not being thrown. The ref threw his flag, at least 20 yards. right at this dude's feet and proceeded to throw him out. I mean escorted him to to player's entrance. The dude was escorted out of the stadium by security.

Also.......early in the 2nd qtr a FH fan addresses the FH crowd that cars are being towed away if you parked in either lot adjacent to the stadium. One lot was posted but the other wasn't. Nothing says welcome to Pittsburgh like getting your vehicle towed.

This Fort Hill mammoth OL has the potential to be devastating. Look at the sheer size of it.

TE Harden 6'3, 248 lbs.
OT Wilhelm 6'2, 291 lbs.
OG Haines 5'8, 246 lbs.
OC Brode 6'4, 248 lbs.
OG Trimble 6'2, 208 lbs.
OT Logsdon 6'8, 253 lbs.

This has to be the biggest line I've seen at FH since I can remember. 5 of the 6 are seniors. All of them are athletic and can move. They just crushed USO. Backs could have scored playing touch football. The DL is better than last year with 3 of the 4 starters back. The strength of this football team is the line of scrimmage. Even with the likes of last years Offensive and Defensive Area players of the year Banks, Hamilton and Poling still in the mix. I'll take the line every time.

I was disappointed in USO. I didn't think they would challenge FH on any large scale but when you look around at their talent levels they should not be 75-8 bad. If you took this USO team and gave them to the FH coaching staff back in January they would be descent. Not world beaters but again not 75-8 bad. But that is what many city based teams offer. Coaches are not always at the school (as their AD pointed out to me before the game) and they just are not as prepared. One of the refs on the field said to start the 2nd quarter that the degree of discipline between the two schools was miles apart. He also thought FH was a private school that recruited, LOL.

I need to see more out of the FH receivers whether it is running routes and getting open or even more noticeable is what they do when the QB takes off scrambling. You need to come back to the football after completing the route and help him out. You can see the receivers are very athletic, especially the gifted specimen #25. He can be a D1 prospect next year with some work. They are just very inexperienced. But double thumbs up on the progression in the secondary. Still a work in progress but far better discipline than what we saw at the Quad. 4 pics on the day. On a similar note North Point beat Old Mill (who went 10-1 last year) on Friday night 42-0. North Point is a pretty legit 4A school.

Thus far FH has faced 5 teams (including 3 at the Quad) and they all ran the spread/shot gun/pass first. The football world has changed. The wing-T is now a great advantage for Cumberland schools as opponents rarely ever see it and the style of football it requires. Dunbar and USO are living proof. Not comparing the two teams, just saying neither defense looks like it had a clue what was happening.

But yea agreed, I like the potential I'm seeing with the Fort Hill OL. It is a big wall.

I saw where Westinghouse beat a DC school 61-0. Not sure if that's an indication of how good Westinghouse is, or how bad that DC school was.

Can anyone point me into the direction of getting stats on the game... I was to into the MD game to keep listening on the radio, and I haven't seen a online posting from times news

yes the "demise" of FH or what some have stated as a "down year" is downright laughable. This senior class has dominated every school locally dating back to their first day at Washington Middle School. Hell they went back to back 8-1 seasons without Hamilton and Poling as 9th graders and without those guys and Banks and Harden as 10th graders. The junior class has had their fair share of success over the years as well going undefeated last year after a rocky 9th grade season, both without Swan. If I recall correctly they lost to Southern in the Super Bowl as 8th graders. As Todd mentioned above, the schedule is working out well for the junior DBs to work on their game to be prepared later in the year. We will find out more about those guys on the back end of the defense this week against Ours and Keyser.

You are 100% right about the wing-t being so difficult for a lot of teams, however, it seems like it also serves as a disadvantage when it comes to fh/alco defending teams like Dunbar. Who puts up those kind of numbers against an allegany defense??? When you don't practice against it and then it's thrown at you in real time it looks like there's just as much confusion defending the spread as there is defending the t.
As far as the receivers go, undoubtedly they will rarely ever get a chance to catch the ball, so will there be a progression...we probably won't know. It's a shame to have that much talent and not be able to find a way to use it. It could only enhance the offense.

Excellent post. I wonder how many fh fans are concerned, worried, or fearful at this point. I haven't seen one fort hill poster talk about the demise, but the people who don't watch them practice, are not involved in/around/or with the program in any way...don't go to scrimmages, and don't even go to the games...well they are authorities.

Im just curious who is talking about the demise of FH??? I havent really heard nothing like that around town... There are some who doesn't believe that they are as good as last yr. but still at the top...

good point about teams running a spread offense. But, in watching Allegany and FH's D-line (especially Allegany's) it is hard to throw with consistent pressure coming at you.

And with Allegany's lines.....it still baffles me how Allegany's lines who were out weighed by 60-100 lbs per player kicked the living crap out of Dunbar's lines. I guess the old saying is true....hard work beats talent when talent don't work hard.

size doesn't always matter - has there ever been a better offensive line than the refosco munchkins? those guys were on the perimeter five yards downfield looking for somebody to block. perfect example of an offense nobody had seen just destroying people.

There are whispers amongst the railbirds........I read it on Cumberland on Patrol lol

the wing t blocking scheme helps negate the size of bigger DL. Cumberland schools have had tons of success with smaller OL over the years. It still amazes me that so many schools still have their DL get sucked up field as much as they do. Our boys are taught in their crib how to play the DL against a wing t offense lol

I have told several coaches that you can't run the 4-3 against the Power Wing-T offense that FH and Alco use. The negative with the Wing T is I don't think it helps the kids with college recruiting because many colleges are running the spread.

How do smaller linemen out block big guys like Dunbar?

One word.
Trap-block.

Or is that two words? lol
