Fort Hill 29 Douglas13.
It will be close until the 4th, then Fort Hill pulls away. Also they have to play a mistake free game.

14-6 FH at the end of a messy first half. 21-14 at the end of 3. FH scores a put away TD midway through the 4th to seal the game. Fort Hill wins 27-14.

FH trails 6-0 early....FH leads 21-6 by halftime

FH 35-14 by 4th...

FH 42-20 Final

This is a better doulgas team than last year. We will miss our oline from last year
Their game plan last year was to shut down darr and johnson but they left barnes wide open. Look for them to go after barnes and johnson and smith should have a big day up the middle.
I look for this one to be close
28-26 fort hill.

unpopular decision

I don't think 24 touches the ball enough and ball security worries me. Last year was a perfect RED storm for FH. I think Douglas bounces back this year before their move to 3a.

FD 27
FH 23

hope I am wrong

Most of you guys are predicting a closer game for FH than the Sun board. Here are the Sun predictions:

- FH (no score)
- FH (no score)
- FH by a running clock
- FH 44-20
- FH (no score)
- FH 35-6
- FH close
- FH 28-13
- Douglass (Baltimore)
- Douglass (Baltimore)
- FH by 28
- FH by 21

This years Douglass isn't better than last years. They're a lil better at running but the passing game is bad, and the D isn't as good! 8 turnovers against Ed made the game appear ugly, which it was, and Cambridge ran very well in them but again turnovers. Their luck will run out. 42-20 FH

Weird Frederick Douglass tidbit

Fort Hill has won three Maryland state football championships with two of them coming against a school named Frederick Douglass. This year will be the third time Fort Hill has faced a Frederick Douglass school in the state title game. Ironically, Fort Hill's other state title victory came against Dunbar. All three of these opponents play on Saturday in this year's state title games.

FORT HILL STATE TITLES1975 - Frederick Douglass of PG County (same team who plays Dunbar for the 2014 Class 2A state title immediately following the Fort Hill game)

1997 - Dunbar of Baltimore (same team who plays Frederick Douglass of PG County for the 2014 Class 2A state title immediately following the Fort Hill game)
2013 - Frederick Douglass of Baltimore (same team Fort Hill plays this year)

Re: Weird Frederick Douglass tidbit

I will not be able to make it to the game, but will be listening to all the FH action with my friends on ESPN 1230 Jim and James, with Matt providing the stats! I hope FH wins, and think they will, but I am not sure that it will be an easy win, State Championships rarely are. I think FH 28-20.

Good Luck to FH.

Matt

Looks like they are calling for rain all day Saturday. At least they will be playing on turf.

Good luck to the Sentinels! You guys are carrying the banner for Western Maryland this year so bring it home!!!!

FH has played their best games in adverse weather. Douglass likes to pass. Heavy rain plus pass doesn't always work well. It's a toss up.

Ya gotta think rain is advantage FH. Power running game takes over in adverse weather. FH has the power running game. Does Douglass?

On turf, I don't think the rain affects the power game vs spread too much. If it was mud, then I think it would help FH. I do think however, it may affect ball handling.

Douglass runs mainly out of spread or shotgun from what I've seen.

Re: Weird Frederick Douglass tidbit

Thanks for listening Matt! It was a real pleasure working with you and your dad over the past few years!

Key to victory to day for sure!!!!

As a FH fan, I'm not going to post a score prediction - bad karma. I think FH gets stung this year, though. Douglas will have enough talent to keep rotating players and will wear FH down in the second half, I'm afraid.

In any case, good luck Sentinels[/I]!!!!

I think Douglas defense is a little better than people think. The most points they had given up in a game is 18 and that was the game they lost with all them turnovers. The rest of their games they have held teams under 10 points with 5 shutouts. Douglas has only given up 60 points total for the season including the playoffs. They have never faced a team as powerful and explosive as FH so will they be able to keep it together once FH starts putting points on the board? I dont think so, look for the panick to set in once they realize there is no stopping Ty Johnson. I say it will be close in 1st half 21-14 FH then the sentinels dominate the 2nd half 42-20 Final...

Re: Weird Frederick Douglass tidbit

I don't see FH getting wore down. hands down they will be better conditioned than FD. FH can only be beat if they turnover the ball and give FD short fields. I don't see a blowout but a close game. FH needs to squib kick to spots, don't send it deep and allow athletes on Sp teams to swing momentum.
