Capitol Christian folded?

Nobody can blame FH for not filling the slot. A real shame. Best balanced schedule in years.

Everybody hang tight. Things are shifting fast as teams fold and other are not sanctioned.

Everyone on the FH schedule is sanctioned. I was referring to other schools that now share the FH problem. I should have been more clear. Sorry. FH schedule is good except they need a game Oct 5 now.

This is the time of year where last minute deals break out because some teams fold (aka Capital Christian). When a team like CCA folds everyone still sitting with an open date looks to see who their opponents were in hopes of picking one of them up to fill that last minute void.

What an afternoon it has been. Fielding calls every 5 minutes about games.

You would think that Allegany and Fort Hill would stay away from scheduling teams that have a chance of this. It has happened to them too much lately. Thankfully, they didn't have any troubles finding a game this late.

Well, while it’s not as much of an issue for AHS, what solution do you suggest when you take into consideration that other than AHS and MRHS no other 1A West teams will schedule FHHS? The same is true for local WV teams. Heck, there are some on this board who believe AHS should no longer play FHHS.

It seems the only alternatives for FHHS are to schedule a team such as highly touted Cathederal out of PA or a team such as Silver Oak that is consistently not very good but a team that will play almost anyone.

Such a risk of scheduling a team such as Capitol Christian appears to be rather necessary as a result of the above.

I understand the issues that Fort Hill has filling its schedule. When you have the success that they have had over the past 10 years you expect these type of issues to pop up. Especially considering the MPSSAA doesn't have any rules or mandates in scheduling other than it has to be a sanctioned school by them.

Hopefully the new playoff format will help FHHS in the future. When it was a 10-game regular season you could afford to lose a game and it might not hurt you. And with more teams making the playoffs now it will probably won't be an issue in the future. I was just stating that it sucks that it has happened in the past and continues to happen now.

Playing teams like CCA and MATHS was not a choice in the old playoff system when nobody your size in any state will play you.

Talking with opposing coaches at the Quad was promising from a scheduling standpoint. Fallston and Smithsburg coaches all seemed to very much like the new system. Head Coach Jimmy Grant told me a team like Fallston, given their recent struggles that just getting five wins and a playoff spot is like going to a bowl game for their program. They hope that can build some interest.

Clear Spring now needs a home game on 9/6 and Maryland School for the Deaf needs one on 11/2, those were the only other two MD games I had on Capital Christian's schedule.

Colonel Richardson also needs a Week 1 so hopefully them and Clear Spring can get something worked out.

Colonel and Clear Spring got together on Friday and are now playing a home and home this year and next. This year's game is at Colonel.
